Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Co Location is happening

This past week I know 2 people from different groups who were told they need to move to the same office as their manager for co-location. Thought it was random but now confirmed that this is the next big thing.
Not sure what happens if your manager is on the other side of the country but guessing some major changes are coming like re-orgs ??!!

@dp This is just like the relocation strategy, without offering different HUB options. It didn’t work for me, when offered to relocate. I’ve been gone a year and there is a better life off of the stagecoach.

...and this is exactly why they will do it. There's no dirty trick or fake justification they won't stoop to. But meanwhile, 1 Indian on the team is just fine. Execs working from non-core locations? Sure. Newhire JPM exec wants to create a fake hub to sit in? Sure. They get all the flexibility in the world, we get forced out with BS lies and treachery. All part of their scheme.

This would actually work on me to force attrition. They're not going to get me to quit via RTO, I'm too stubborn and the job market is too garbage for me to give up that easily. But forced relocation? That'd get me. I've got a 2% mortgage on a home I bought a decade before the pandemic, being coerced to move without any financial consideration would be a six figure hit to my net worth, for zero upside. This would actually make working at walmart an feasible alternative.

I've been at Wells a decade and have on average had a new manager every 18 months, the idea I'm going to be invested enough in my manager/team to chase them across the country is ludicrous, to say the least.

Finally, this company is something that makes sense. Managers need be co located as their staff.

Some of us have people spread across the country because they have to be physically near customers. Colocation isn't physically possible. I'm sure HY will still use it as a BS excuse for downsizing people in such positions though. Anyone else find it funny how colocation and location never ever applies to the one Indian guy on the team? Huh. Interesting.

Long f#ing overdue. How can managers manage, train, effectively lead when all their employees are in another state. Those manager are essentially individual contributors in disguise and getting more for doing less.

That essentially means jobs are going to India - all co-located.

Nobody needs banks anymore. Didn't you get the memo? All online. Any live check just needs a camera phone to deposit. Like toll takers, or subway tokens, there's a definite limited time before you are redundant. I am sorry to tell you. Unless you are in IT India. You are all ok for a little while longer

And for those of us in Tech who have had multiple managers in a short amount of time? You really think the one you have now will be there for the long term? Managers are a dime-a-dozen.

All this RTO stuff is only going to make people do less work.

The place gets worse each minute.

Yes yes, we all have to be colocated.

What about the guy on the team that's in India?

Oh never mind him, just think of his as "talent in another location".

😐
