Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Did Any Layoffs Occur Yesterday 10/6/25?

My team had a very short notice 15 minute teams call yesterday with our Sr. Manager letting us know that another different Sr. Manager on our team was no longer with the company effective immediately.

The Sr. Manager who was let go regularly interacts with our entire team so the main point of the call was to instruct us who to reach out to directly going forward for issues the former Sr. Manager used to deal with.

To all of our knowledge the Sr. Manager was an extremely high performer and was very well liked by our Director and Executive Director.

Trying to figure out if this was a one off or part of a larger batch of layoffs.

I used to work there. Was a top performer with bachelor and master degrees in business. I was given less work than junior staff. I saw the writing on the wall. My experience and education hurt me on the bottom line payroll numbers. They had me training people to do my job. I left and have a way better job.

well, when decision time comes down to laying off high performers or perhaps making another billion dollars in profit....guess what wins.

If it's immediately, that's not a layoff, unless the Sr Manager who held the call waited to let everyone know. Usually there is a 2 week transition of responsibilities. Surprised the Sr. Manager's Director didn't hold the call.

Some of us were loved by our teams and Exec Directors and very high performers. Didn't matter.
