The work the laid off people were doing didn't disappear. It'll still need to be done. And guess who'll be doing it? Certainly not the ones who made the decision to lay people off and certainly not new people, because they're not going to hire any replacements. Which means, those of us still in IT are sc--wed.

Keeping to timelines laid out in a plan is foreign to IT management. When timelines slip, they’ll find a vendor or a recently laid off employee to blame.
I'll be honest, I am not doing anymore work then I have right now. Why should I? Why should any of us still here? We are all going to be replaced at some point so do as little as you can without getting fired.
