Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Ragone who?

In an extraordinary show of competence Jennifer Ragone the new Head of HR wows employees with just how great she is at coming up with HR policy on the fly.
In a show of how dynamic she is at pulling ideas out of thin air she has given her first message to the devoted DXC faithful.
Now given the commitment last year to a pay cycle that would be completed by 1 Oct you might surprised to hear it wasn't that
Jennifer wanted to demonstrate her dynamic ideas led thought leadership by announcing to all employees that as of the 1st of Oct they will need to find 6 days of annual leave in order to cover a company wide shutdown over Christmas.

That's the way Jen likes to roll.

Great having you Jen at the head of HUMAN Resources

Ps any news on the promised pay cycle

@fq you would have to laugh at that. When it suits them, you must take days off for the environment, but when we mandate you attend the office the environment counts for absolutely nothing! Pot calling the kettle black springs to mind, given the latter astronomically outweighs the former.

So here’s a thought if you’ve used up all your A/L allowance for 2025 you have to use the 10 days from your 2026 allowance and if you have to use another 10 days for 2026 shutdowns you only have 5 days left of your total allowance for your summer/easter/thanksgiving holiday

Come on, be a global team player. She did mention it would also help support our commitment to environmental sustainability. Still trying to figure that one out, but at least the email worked in another bunch of nonsense.

Jan 2nd comes from the 2026 leave allowance, as will the 7 days at Xmas 2026, so that's 8 out of 25 days leave in 2026 which you are being forced to take on specific days. More or less a third of your leave entitlement being mandated!

So have they stated what happens to staff who don't have the extra 4 days to take off? It used to be 2 days were mandatory in the Christmas > BH period UNLESS you were operations

In the US there's unlimited vacation so not a big deal. What it does though is pays us from a benefit account as opposed to billable funds. Its the old CSC way of saving money. Reducing liabilities on the balance sheet while having customers expecting service and not fulfilling it...

Mandated holidays is equal to a pay cut - making DXC staff take holidays when it suits the firm. Want more holidays? sure buy them from DXC to reduce your salary. what a company!

You'll need to use 7 days, as you'll need to use one from next year as well!
Mon 22 + Tue 23 + Wed 24 + Mon 29 + Tue 30 + Wed 31 + Mon 02
The flex charge for a days holiday is - 1/260th of your Reference Base Salary.
If your salary is £45k - that's £1211.53 worth of holiday you are now required to buy and consume at the companies bequest. So another c.3% pay cut for those who would rather use their holiday in the summer. Anywhere else customary days are included in the package, the company adjusts them every year subject to how christmas falls. 2026 - might only be 3!

The holiday mandate replaces pay rises.

You expected HR to achieve two things in the same year?

She'd need twice the salary to do two things.
