Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

What are your thoughts?

It feels like an exercise to see who would be willing to support after they've outsourced almost everything. Take the few that are willing (or if there are extras, the top picks in their mind) and distribute them into the roles they envision moving forward. My guess is those roles will be 1) supporting site operations day to day; i.e. contractor management, permiting, etc. 2) oversight of the outsourcing. Keeping them "accountable". 3) roles they legally can't get rid of; so they'll keep the bare minimum.

Anyone else have a different read or theory?

If you want to 'stick it to the man' by not filling it out, go for it, but it guarantees you will lose your job.

Other's might be disgusted by the company, but for whatever reason need to stay with the company will swallow their pride and try to stay.

People will talk a good game, but when it comes down to it I would wager more people than you think will be mobile to Edmonton. It's not a good job market and IOL does pay very well.

Folks in places like Sarnia and Nanticoke who are losing their jobs over this are in a tough spot because those are not big centers with lots of opportunities.
