Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Do layoff calendar invites every go out the day before?

Over the years I've read many posts on here stating that layoff notices go out the same day as the layoff conversation.

Sometimes people continue lurking on this board after they've been laid off. Has anyone been laid off and gotten the notice the day before?

I was displaced in July. Knew it was coming, just not when. No meeting invite but received the 8:30am IM from my manager. We did a video chat and they informed me the work was "being streamlined" (aka moved to India) and my role was being eliminated. Was told to make sure my personal contact information was up to date and to set my email to Out of Office. Two hours later my access was removed.

Note that meeting times vary. Mine was scheduled at 11:30 Eastern though we started earlier after my Manager was laid off before me. He told me to remove unused PTO which was sent to me on a non payday day after the 60 notice period ended. Was told access would be cut off at day end. I was so excited to get out of there. I sent an email and turned my laptop in since I was in the office. Only a few people knew what was going on. I sent a quick email saying goodbye and left without saying physical goodbyes to others. I had prayed for that day. It has been the best thing to happen resulting in no clenched teeth and no Sunday night dread. My role was su-king the life out of me.

In my area, when I got displaced, it happened Tuesday after payday. Got a meeting invite in early AM on Tuesday, by our 3+ up manager, I knew right away what that it was gonna be my day. When you get an email invite with only you as the invitee, that is a give away. Plus I asked my team member and she did not get the same invite. Meeting was at 11:00 am, meeting took about 20-25 minutes, explaining what is gonna happen next. One thing make sure you get all that you need to get done first before to you do your goodbyes, you only have 2 hours before they shut down your computer. I got no forewarning that I was gonna be displaced that day. And you have to remove all PTO that you have or had upcoming pto requested, you will get all accrued PTO paid after your 60 day notice is up. Also you need to fill out info on your computer, monitor etc. they need that info when they send you your packing boxes sent by wells to ship your stuff back to wells. Good luck, sounds like it is getting pretty dicey. Happy I got my golden parachute. Wells is a toxic workplace. Not getting better. Good luck.

Our team knew for a month that our layoff was coming then it got pushed about 2 months. I wrote all my "good bye" notes and saved them in my draft folder. When the layoff mtg finally happened, I hit send on all of them during the call. When the 8a PT call was over, closed the lid and immediately felt relief.

My invite came Monday afternoon. I asked my Manager if he knew what is was about since it was his Manager that called the meeting. I checked with a few peers and my peers did not have an invite. I was told it was a typical 2 down. I knew it wasn’t. I had been financially preparing and was ready for the layoff. Right before my call, my manager advised our team that he was laid off.

Often mentioned the same day. Sometimes the day before. Send the email, get lost (go on a real long breakfast or lunch) and then hold the in person announcement.

Oh no. I had a 1-1 scheduled for a different day. But now, my 1-1 was moved to Tuesday (tomorrow) at 9:30am. The meeting invite seems to be normal. Should I be worried? Interestingly, other openings on the team have been hired just recently.

there are no calendar invites you.

you will get a call around 9-10 directly. your weak manager will not be on video.

I did receive vague warnings 2 years prior due to my remote status. Then about 3 months prior I was informed it was coming for sure and it did. I was grateful that my manager had the decency to provide the notice over time.

I was listening to a marketing call around 8:30 am, and saw an IM pop up from my manager with, "Hi, can I call you for a second?" I knew it. I couldn't believe it was happening again. All I remember hearing was expenses. Ugh. No, throughout my experience, they usually let you know that day and not just at WF.

I received an IM from my manager asking if I was available to talk, there wasn't a meeting sent in advance. Although I knew it was coming at some point, just didn't know which week.

Those impacted on my team got the invite late the day prior but they had a 60 day working notice.

Many of my friends have been displaced, lots of good workers. Some due to the location BS, some in hub locations, no one is safe.

99% of the time it is a 1-on-one meeting invite with their/a manager first thing in the morning on a Tuesday after PayDay for a meeting at the top of the hour, usually with very little notice. One friend got the 1-on-1 meeting invite the afternoon before but that is rare from what I've witnessed.
