With $100K per H-1B visa, all workers from India, Mexico, and Asia will return to their home country for good. Is this a good thing or is it a bad thing?

25%tax on offshored roles and 100k fees on H1b will save American jobs
Ha ha ha
@OP This will have little overall impact on H1 usage - best case, those Indian Sweat shops will not file but those visas will go to people already present in the US. Overall, just like tarrifs - a lot of noise but no real impact.
- It only applies to new applications.
- It only applies to applicants physically outside the US.
- Existing H-1B holders, as well as foreigners physically in the US (like international students at US universities who wish to convert to H-1B after graduation), are not subject to this new rule.
Is it good or bad? Certainly bad. The actual impact on resolving the H-1B abuse is minimal, and yet all the enterprises will use it as an excuse to offshore even more resources. Why do you think Ford would prefer hiring one local Michigander instead of 10+ people in Chennai?
This is just another shortsighted attempt by our president to fix a complicated problem that he can't be bothered to understand. Corporations will simply transfer more work to low cost countries. So even fewer jobs for Americans, and no tax revenue from the foreign workers. By the time people admit to what happened, Trump will be out of office and will blame the next guy.
@b1 Ford should NOT be hiring the younger generation of college kids!! TRUST ME.
Every little helps! It will save many jobs for Americans and the younger generation of our college kids.
What can we do more to stop our job outflows?
Oh no. No more Indians coming to the States?
Read the fine print. This just applies to new applications not all applications f the existing people here on H1B visas. Also, this is only in effect for one year. If this were a serious effort to fix the problem, it would apply to current H1B people and not have a sunset provision.
This move has accelerated our offshoring plan. Was to go to 2027 now we’ve been asked to get it done in 2026. 120 jobs gone 1 year earlier.
This gives the existing H1B a $100K salary headroom.
It'll save American jobs.
If you like higher wages then it is good. If you like competing against H1Bs and or lower wages bad.
Does not affect existing h1B
