CVE is run by arrogant corporate snakes. They are making money hand over fist. They don’t need to layoff. Employees are a necessary evil until they’ve used you for what they need. Everyone is out for themselves at CVE - they don’t trust you and you can’t trust them. Laying off a bunch of hard working people and arrogantly saying you will just “do less”. I’ve never seen such id--tic things. Is this company real or a nightmare? #USW #Strike #2026

Trash company!
Let the games begin folks.
This is a disgusting “company” and I feel for those that were “duped” into leaving a good job for this place. The grass isn’t green, it’s dead and gone.
Did they finally cut some HR staff? The average Fortune 500 company has 1.0 to 1.2 HR people per 100 employees! Last time someone posted HR numbers on here it was 10x that, over 400 HR people! Absolutely ridiculous for a company this size! The worst part is that HR generates zero cash flow, zero income and are basically useless when you contact your HR Business Partner for help with salary grade questions or promotion inquiries! Time to clean out the basement once and for all!
Employees are giving up, not much talent left in this bloated monstrosity. Can't keep acquiring, transitioning, re-aligning every 6-12 months and expect employees to be able to focus and give their best. Couldn't agree more with this post......
Everyone but operators are going to be gone from 2 of the 3 US Refineries. They are going to be sold to a new owner who already has the US corporate offices. JM will keep only one of them - the small one. If MEG goes through, this will happen soon.
@dj That's just the HR process. Postings will be closed with no intention to hire.
The layoffs followed by a stream of job postings and new hires is peak sh-t company behaviour.
Former Husky employee, left IT few months ago. I only got to see Husky culture here. The culture of fear. The 12 grade diploma guy is the worst. He is a paranoid guy.
It’s a terrible company. So many people have the same story but the universe will take care of it. The stock price has always been lower than peer groups. JM needs to go. I’m sure that’s being discussed. Perhaps the latest round of layoffs is the last ditch effort for him. The only thing those bozos at the top know is how to layoff. My 5 year old has a similar skillset.
I left the company a few months ago and it was the best decision ever. Sad for those that stick around and put up with the bs.
Lots of people who previously did the layoffs are now laid off.
Oh sweet, sweet karma. No one is safe forever.
Welcome to a sh-t company
