Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Not a healthy company

You can tell a healthy company by the way it grows. A sick one just keeps restructuring to squeeze a few more bucks out while everyone burns out. Sound familiar? Working here is like living in a company that’s eating itself alive instead of actually improving.

@wp …or do just enough to keep the paycheck flowing, since it’s never about you and only about shareholders profits. Blow off steam on layoff.com about your miserable and clueless bosses who only care about climbing their own ladder.

Don’t sacrifice your life for a company or boss that doesn’t value you.

Then never work in corporate America. It’s not about you ever. It’s about value and profits and money. People take this stuff too personal. You want to call the shots go start your own company.

@fz - It’s called giving positive feedback. Telling other people to stop saying anything and be happy with paycheck is how company downfall starts

Talk to any employees who were around when PK started building Nike. It has always been a toxic environment. You are in the inner circle or you are out of the inner circle. If you were in the inner circle, promotion and growth was guaranteed.

It was all hidden behind the facade of competitiveness and winning at all cost against the competition.

Toxicity is in our DNA

Nike itself is a parasitic company. Don’t complain about the shareholders.

Stop wasting time on sites like this, go work and increase shareholder value.

@bn 'the companies are being fiscally responsible'
no, the extra money is being shoveled upwards to the shareholder
the relationship is vampiric or parasitic
the companies are being su-ked dry

Maybe Nike should be private.

It does feel like all of Corporate America has become this hamster wheel of regular layoffs to "prove to shareholders" the companies are being fiscally responsible.

Sadly the layoffs are often poorly targeted or fundamentally affect the same employees that could really help the company be better while ignoring the LT that gatekeeps real solutioning.

It's unsettling to think about all this really as the new standard.

I sincerely wish everyone the best that was affected.
