Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I'm so over this place

This last round of layoffs broke something in me. I’ve been running on fumes for months, taking on double the work, and it’s obvious leadership couldn’t care less. You treat people like a spreadsheet and then act surprised when they stop caring? Please.

Don’t forget that have that big Resignation button in the employee portal. Could not be any easier to click and get the ball rolling.

@aa Resign if you don’t like it is exactly the mentality they want you to have.

There’s a really naive theory on this site that anyone can just quit any time they like without any repercussions. For some people that works, for some it doesn’t. Some people they can survive the short term pain, for others it could be life changing and bring suffering to their families. The solution may be simple, but it’s not always easy.

Don’t listen to people blaming your “attitude” for you not quitting. If you let them do this long enough you’ll start to believe you deserved it. Do it when you’re ready.

The best advice I can give anyone in this situation is try and avoid this trap by having an exit strategy. Its ok to be unhappy at work, but do something about it. Have a plan ready for the day that Oracle decides to cut you. Because that day will come if you’re not in the top 1%.

@OP I think the effect on morale is understood by leadership, and that they expect a chunk of people who are not laid off will leave anyway (without a pay off) over the next few months.

@aa both people who have to leave and people that stay suffer. I have been in both situations before amd both s..ck. to reflect on what OP is saying: the uncertainty, no control, not knowing is devistating on mental health. The people left behind get more work, no raise, and most of all no understanding. They should be happy they stull have a job, right? Wrong. It is ki-ling for everyone, except those at the top.

Do you need instructions on how to resign?

The current RIF model is clearly inadequate if it didn’t catch your attitude. People that cared were eliminated but you are here to say you have a job but oh so broken.
