Re France: This will be the standard EU consultation period for employees in EU countries. France is one of the most difficult countries in which to lay peole off, the consultation period goes on for 3 months.

I think some former colleagues are affected, but for some reason they are being completely silent about it? It is a terrible culture here where people who are RIF'd don't tell you and just move on to other jobs. I think my previous boss also told me to not tell anyone about it.
But why? It is totally legal to speak about it. Only the Indians seem to be totally honest about it marking their profiles as "Open to work" on Linkedin.
