Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Job market

Is it really as bad as people are saying? I've been looking for the past few days and there are plenty of good positions available, which confused me. Are these real or are they just placeholders?

@a2 I agree but the grind and lack of savings is messing with people.

@aq What if the only option is to apply with LinkedIn?

It's very bad, almost nonexistent for middle aged and older people with more than 10 years of exp.

it's really bad
I know many people with 20+ experience and not old yet and searching for a job for over a year (in dev, qa, pm).

@OP There are a LOT of jobs, but Need to consider: Location, how much are you willing to commute, some companies now require 5 days a week. I suggest to identify 20-25 companies and apply directly to their website Every Week. Take advantage of your local career counseling services like how to build resume, how to re-do your LinkedIn profile, how to 'negotiate salary', how to work on your work stories for potential aka behavioral interviews, set up job alerts via Indeed/Simply hired, LinkedIn, Monster, Dice.com. Believe me, I posted my resume and I keep getting a LOT of calls from recruiters. I use home phone for recruiters to reach me. I did not provide my cell phone because it will ring non-stop. When you post your resume DO Not put your Home address. Just put your email and home phone. Right now is the BEST time to apply and apply before upcoming Holidays. Good luck and Happy Job searching. Your full time JOB is to look for jobs no time to feel sorry, move on :)
