Hello all, the notice period and amount of severance pay vary from country to country. I was wondering if you received notice period and severance pay according to the law in your country or did Oracle provide you with an extra package beyond the law?

If you are in USA expect something low like 1-4 weeks base severance + 1 week per extra year of service. But it all depends on what they decide on right then and there. I have seen everything from no notice out the door same day with bootlocker to 1 week of remaining access to even Slack, which was fun because the person went on reply with "not my problem anymore" to people requesting help and post in idc about it.
If you are in Europe do not accept anything less than the standard severance pay and notice period in your country. I think it could be anywhere from 2-5 months of severance depending on how strict the labour laws are, and expect maybe 1 month notice where you are still on the job, ofc depending on local laws. Consult your local laws / labour union / etc, some even offer to verify the layoff contract with labour union legal, which I did and it passed. Idk about UK, according to several sources it is the worst in Europe, so I can only pray for you.
India? Idk, judging by how easily people got kicked out I would not be surprised if they got nothing. Maybe I should have asked one of my previous colleagues, but I had no idea how to contact them when their Slack was deactivated.
Also this is why Oracle stopped hiring talent in many European countries like France. Apparently in France they have to give the offer of the same package to everyone, even the people they want to keep. Idk if it is true though.
If you are in the US and NOT in an at will state you should probably talk to a lawyer. In Canada, never take the first offer especially if you have rsu vesting shortly
