I saw an internal job posting today for what’s basically an executive PowerPoint maker. I think the top end of the posted salary was in the 180K range. They can’t get an admin or intern with ChatGPT to do that work? This company is cooked.

Ya that hiring manager should be fired. And what joke of an intern would even apply for that role? yes 21 year old, in 2026 come make power points in the age of AI…
This is not a “real” job. This is to bring in or “promote” an executive’s family member or close friend. This person is probably not gonna do any real work while getting a six figure salary. USAA does this more often than any other company I’ve seen.
Can I apply for it while keeping my current role? I will use ChatGPT to do this job. I will not even “expense” the $20 subscription fee. I promise!
Not surprised at all. The very first thing I learned since joining USAA is how the board cares more about fonts and colors more than the actual content. I kid you not. For a while we even hired an entire team focusing primarily on presentation formatting which we colloquially called that team “the color team”. They all had six figure salaries…. I’m done trying to make USAA into something it doesn’t wanna be. I’ll collect my pay and keep my mouth shut.
The reason is because we pay a lot more to the consultants for useless powerpoints. Maybe they figured inhouse is cheaper! lol
There are many executives in IT departments who have people with titles like Systems Analyst Lead. Sometimes they camouflage it by paying a high-priced contract with companies like PWC and have the person attached to a mid-level manager or a director. You guys can find out from the connect profiles of persons with lead analyst title reporting to an executive.
@a1 a well thought, measured response. I am awed by your intellectual heft, seriousness of purpose, and detailed reply to the core issue that in 2025 we’re going to be paying someone nearly 200K solely to craft fu--ing powerpoints
Shut up
