Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

DT Services Town Hall: a concentration of bs and sociopaths

I attended the DT Services Town Hall today. I'll be honest: I felt embarrassed, and every day I can't understand how they can say such things without bursting out laughing.
I draw a veil over the comment regarding the Tell Dell results.
I hope these people get out of their homes and touch the grass, they have completely lost touch with reality.

@my
Capital letters are usually the initials of C-levels of very upper management.
Considering the post is about Services, it would be logical it's Doug Schmitt, CIO and President of Services.

@my I wasn't able to get an exemption, so i goninto the office 5x week (I used to cifee badge but there's some tallte tells in the building). Your description of working in the office is spot on. Roughly one out of every ten desks on my floor is occupied and everyone is on teams or zoom calls most of the day.

idk what "DS" is but i'm guessing "dell sales?" Our org's TH is equally pathetic though.. Most questions that are asked end up being answered in long winded explanations that ultimately tell you NOTHING. If it's about layoffs or RTO, it's cr-p like "we realize and understand many of you don't like it but, it's about modernization, in person team collaboration and bla bla bla bla bla"

idk about any of you but, my org - specifically my department - is global and/or country wide... Meaning, I drive an hour into a mostly empty office that has NONE of my coworkers, and then sit on TEAMS meetings all day. Something I can literally do on my phone lol.

I'm on a medical exemption right now so am not required to go into office, and have another 2.5-3 months left of that. Which I plan to use so I can do the EXACT same job in the comfort of my lake-side house. It's more fun, relaxing and mentally better for me to work on my dock while my dog swims in the lake. Plus, I have a mini office on my boat dock to work in when it's nice outside.

I attended online and the propaganda was insane DS name checked AI projects that are somewhere between terrible and useless, the in person crowd apart from the gimp he kept taking the pi-s out of looked asleep and the online audience were uninterested.

@bz When you get the "business update" meeting and hear your manager saying "Your role has been impacted as part of a workforce reduction," it does take your breath away for a moment. It's very accurate.

As long as OSB has a job, they are not serious about improving the culture

And why were they playing “Take My Breath Away” from Top G-n before and after the town hall? Are they teasing Project Mav? Or was that just an amazing coincidence? Makes you wonder…

He got bent out of shape on the "lost trust in senior leadership" question when that was literally one of the things talked about on the company level results. And since Jenn Saavedra had her little video about Tell Dell results saying there would be more transparency from the ELT, what has the ELT actually done to be more transparent?

I noted that there was a large number of laughing emoticons at certain points. I also noted that when he 'answered' a question from online regarding how the tell dell results represented a loss of trust in senior leadership that someone finally decided to disable the reaction button.

That guy makes me sick.

DS's condescending attitude certainly should help employee morale.

They keep trying to pin the negative numbers on RTO, which I'm sure play a role, but completely gloss over the fact we've seen never ending layoffs for 2.5 years straight, and maybe that constant anxiety is factoring into this? But they won't acknowledge that, just like he can't even man up to say WFR or layoffs, can only refer to it as "modernization". I guess the fact they don't list WFR's in Tell Dell as something to improve upon also means it's whitewashed from the survey results.

"In person just works better, so RTO isn't changing" how does that jive for all of us who are on teams spread around the globe? No travel budget, so you aren't really serious...

No wonder there weren't any questions at the end. What's the point in asking when you know the response will su-k anyway?
