Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

This is very much intentional

Letting us wait like this, creating unnecessary stress, having the entire workforce worry about our jobs... No way in he-l this is not intentional and aimed at getting some of us to quit. Their goal is to create atmosphere so stressful, so chaotic, so toxic, that people will walk away even without severance. I'm guaranteeing you this is their plan.

just stop working, take the next two months to have extra coffee breaksl. Why work if you don't even know if you have a job or not... coast until you know. No one is going to even notice

Sounds very similar to the way Enbridge had done layoffs lately. I wish you all the best! It’s not fun, but it seems the new norm! Wondering if we will see the same this fall.

This is almost exactly the same timing and pace that we had in the 2015 to 2019 cuts. We had four straight years of this, almost the exact same timing and duration. This is nothing special or different, this is the new normal for the O&G business. It’s similar to the traditional 5/7 year cycles we used to have, now just a little more frequent. This is probably continue into 26/27 also…

At least they haven’t adopted the whole “reapply for your job” junk that Shell/BP/XOM/CVX have adopted.
