Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

To the “quit complaining” crew

SOOOOO sick of explaining this so please try to follow along … it isn’t the commitment to sit at a desk 5x8 (even though the guarantee of an actual desk would be a reasonable expectation in that case) it is the forced moves and policing under the guise of collaboration as we sit on Teams with employees in different hubs and the unspoken few who have somehow skirted RTO and remained virtual. It’s a LIE and the only standard this form of RTO aligns with is the new corporate standard of mistreating, overworking, and violating employees, taking advantage of at-will employment terms for gains that only those influencing policy will enjoy.

If you are fortunate enough to live in a hub, celebrate the toxic T culture, and are somehow benefiting from being in the office, great. But the people who were adversely impacted have a right to be pi---d. Leave it at that and stay off these forums.

Keep up the complaining. It's making a difference for some of us here.

@e6

Why the heck would I reward bad behavior with a positive response? AT&T wants people to quit, so that became the absolute last thing I will do

@e6 So tired of having to remind people like you about the job market. It's not good and hasn't been all year. Just look at today's jobs report ... it's not good. Don't believe what you're hearing about the economy in D.C. -- that's called spinning the news.

So, nobody is going to just resign or quit when they don't have something else. Rest assured, many of us are doing our best to leave and find something but nobody is stupid enough to quit receiving a paycheck without another job. Especially if they have a family, kids, etc.

Is this really that hard to understand??? "Yet you stay and complain..." Right. Because of what I just wrote above!! In the meantime, folks like me will continue to complain about the culture. 1) because I can 2) i want others on the outside to know how toxic it is here and don't come 3) because it pi---s people like you off.

I don't need to quit. I am market based. I checked the market and this position is good pay for my lack of productivity.

If it isn't one thing, you would be complaining about something else. Always something. I think you like complaining.

@a5 you’re right and that’s exactly what Stankey wants - a sure fire way to cut headcount T desperately needs to cut to make up for the mounds of debt HE created without paying severance. Good to see you’re finally catching on!

No. Your preferences are completely immaterial.

As someone who moved to a hun early last year to retain employment at T, quit complaining!!!

@a7 clearly y’all have drank Stankey’s kool-aid. The fact that this is viewed as “complaining” is why the sickening sycophantic behavior of our chairman, CEO, and chief a—hole in charge of debt acquisition continues to go unchecked. Grow a spine.

“ And yet you stay”

No, you are correct. I know it’s meant to be a jab and troll comment, but if everyone in the office just walked out, that would send a huge message. Maybe we should do a walk out.

For the myriad of other reasons folks stay:

haven’t found anything else. The job market is trash right now, maybe you’ve read the news?

Just need another year or two to retire

Medical issues and bills, so stuck.

I know to the union crew, we are all just whiny about the having to go to the office, we don’t work, blah blah. Yeah I think the OP laid it out pretty well, it’s been explained countless times on here, yet you all just want to be trolls. Ok fine, next time you all go on strike, you all get no support from us and I’ll do everything to make your lives hard (oh yes, I’m in a position to do that). Show us some support. If it was happening to you all, ya’ll would have been striking a LONG time ago.

this is not Russia, China, or North Korea. You are free to resign anytime you want to.
