@pd I am praying! That would be solid timing for me. Standard 8 week severance plus 6 for 3 years is 14 weeks. Gets me through the holiday season and into the Q1 hiring season.

Allstate is where tech careers go to die, looking at you all Microsoft stack.

I've never seen so many layoffs at Allstate in just 2025 than all 10+ years prior. You reach out to another team and they're short staffed, struggling just like your team is.
Classic is a de*th sentence.

@pd's confirmation with HR was Harebrained Rumor.

Soon. It's about time for the annual 'management meeting' in Chicago, when all the mid level lizard people gather to discuss why the company isn't changing or transforming and figure out how they're going to deflect the accountability from themselves.

Then we'll get the 3Q, 'Record earnings!' rah rah and the 'I bleed blue' shills will clap like demented seals.

Then long about October(ish) we'll have the annual Hunger Games, where we'll reimagine some more people right out of the company so we can realize the 'savings' and jack up the stock price for EOY. Then in 2026, the whole cycle will start again.

What I have seen has been "quiet cutting" since 2020.

Never large enough to trigger the WARN act (required 60 days notice to staff) course.

Co-workers continually disappear here there everywhere, no reasons why, and whatever you do DONT ask why person X was cut/RIFd/let go - don't "rock the boat."

It's Transformative Growth (Mediocre Status Quo)

@f4 been having similar conversations myself. The company will look quite different in a few years. Some contracts will be up (these people already know redundancy is coming) and then the FoCs will be reviewed i suspect and can't see them all escaping unscathed. But as long as there are packages at end of it it should help soften the blow.

But fully agree, everyone should be updating the CVs, maybe even getting some interview experience in. Good luck when the day comes, whether its 5 months or 5 years.

My boss has been preppping me since June for being laid off. I am hanging in there for that sweet sweet severance and bonus that is paid out in March.

A good reminder to sharpen that resume and start applying for gigs once a year, at least!
