Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO=rambling taking over

All I hear all day is lonely people rambling instead of working.

“I do far less work in the office than I did for 20 years at home.”

Very true for me too. I go out of my way to make sure of it.

Guy in the cube next to me snores once and a while. I'll take a big notebook of practices and drop it on the ground by "accident". Then he lets a little scream out when it wakes him up. LOL. This is my collaborating.

"Is it over a Teams call while you're 2 floors away from your colleague? In person collaboration is awesome!"

Lol, try 2 states away...

I hear plenty of rambling about how much they hate this company and how much they hate the stank. It's the best part of collaboration knowing you aren't alone.

“ Not according to activity metrics reports. Idle time is through the roof when T employees WFH.”

That’s rich. Any of their shoddy ‘reports’ are as accurate & trustworthy as “Honest John Cheatem’s” used car lot.

@db The “idle time” you mentioned is deceiving because at home, I was able to work in spurts between 7am and 11pm. When I get to the office have to recover from the commute, chit chat, work, and eat all within that narrow 8hr timeframe. It may appear that I’m less idle but I’m actually less focused during keyboard time.

“I never realized the extent of people who do nothing all day until I started going into the office. Now I realize it would be very easy for the company to downsize and not feel a loss in production”

I didn’t support RTO until also seeing this daily. Now I realize how much RTO is needed.

OP -- Just think, if we did not have this stupid RTO requirement you would not have to listen to it. Instead, they brought us all back so that we could stand around and "collaborate". Maybe the leaders should actually manage their people instead of trying to figure out how to make the environment so miserable that all the best employees will leave!

You must work in the same location as me. That older divorced lady with six cats. Non-stop talking.

Work was not part of RTO. Only your presence in the office.

@OP so what I'm hearing you say is that you are not a collaborative team player.
