I've been back at full time office for almost 2.5 years. I saw the writing on the wall and decided to do 5 days even before that mandate came out. Loved the initial months of WFH but the days became longer and longer. I was averaging 53-55 hours per week. Now I do a straight 40 and leave. When asked about working additional hours I cite an after-work obligation I need to attend to. I continue to receive good reviews, decent bonuses and team awards. The quality of life improvement in taking back those 13-15 hours a week is amazing. I get the downside of RTO for the masses, but I'd like to know if others have recaptured the additional hours they were giving away for free before 5 days a week in-office was mandated.

@d1, well done. Good plan.
Its really not that bad for me. I work 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. My office is 17 miles from my house. I'm home by 3:30 every day and laptop is left in the office every night. Life is good.
I will hit my 40 hour weekly requirement in 2 hours… and then I’m going home! Every Friday can be a half day if you just “work” 9 hours mon-thurs. Cheers!
@b5 before RTO I was available 12 hours a day, now that’s just 8.. and most of my time in the office is spent talking to others about how much everyone hates this company.. .
You've checked everybody, all days? Or just spewing nonsense?
“No logging in before or after work, no checking on things in the weekends.”
You weren’t doing this before RTO.
I am the same way. I have reduced my hours by roughly 15 hours per week since I am going into the office. I will say that I love the new schedule and less work hours. My hourly pay has definitely increased significantly. On occasion, I will take a call after my "normal" working hours but I decline any recurring meetings that are requested "after hours" now. 8 & Skate, It can Wait!
"We are pressured to have 45 or more hours reflected in the weekly presence report."
I have not heard from anyone saying that we need 45 hours a week in the office. As a matter of fact, I plan on 40 and use Friday as the plug hours. Once I hit 40 for the week on Friday, I start disconnect and go home.
Don't forget to subtract your commutes from any productive in office hours. Still have to be in the he-l hole for 8, but blatantly waste enough time to balance out the drive.
They get 40 hours out of me and not one minute more. No logging in before or after work, no checking on things in the weekends. Most days I leave my laptop at my desk.
I do about 20 less hours of work each week now. 8 and skate, it can wait. Market based now.
Around 60 hours in the office and get a lot of work done.
"600 hours a year is pretty remarkable"
Unlikely. OP has a commute now.
We are pressured to have 45 or more hours reflected in the weekly presence report. We generally spend 3 hours a day in disorganized meetings. My daily workload fits nicely into an 8 hour workday, without the meetings. I've been blowing them off since January unless I am personally requested to be present. Not working fewer hours like the OP, but the hours I work are much more productive IMHO.
600 hours a year is pretty remarkable. I need to cut back myself. They'll bleed you dry if you let them.
