Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

I’m definitely not going through this any longer

I got an offer. It’s not a better job, not better pay, and honestly not even in my lane. But I refuse to sit through this endless uncertainty, with stress piling up until it’s finally over. With a 20-25% headcount cut hanging over us, my chances of being let go are way too high. Think about yourselves, look around, grab whatever you can. Sc--w this company.

Some of you need to consider that everyone's situation is different. Good point on severance for someone with <3 years only being <8% of their salary. That isn't worth sticking around for it you have a job offer at 8% or higher. And someone new to the job market has way more opportunities to go do something else. This may bit be your situation, and that's ok. Understand they have to do what's best for themselevs and sticking around with hopes may not be the best option for someone in their 20's. Also, just to say it, 4 weeks as a minumum package is pretty cr-ppy if you ask me. Obviously someone with more years gets more. Great for those people - submit the EOI if you wanna.

As CP polishes itself up for sale. They jettison the deadwood, sorry. Your jumping ship for new career at lower pay scale. Good for you!!! You have what was known as gumption. A rare person. You have more common sense than these hanger on hopefuls with their head in the sand.

@bb what a rude response. Frankly severance isn’t that much if they have been an employee for just a few years. Plus, 60 days of extra stress is no fun. The thread poster determined for themselves it wasn’t worth sticking around when they had an alternative job offer in hand. Oh, and don’t be a je-k at Walmart or CoP. The world has plenty of those already.

No excuse to call this endless? 2015... 2020... 2025... This time will be different though, never again right?

Good luck. I'll wave to you as I enter Walmart.
Unless you are a contractor, your decision making is poor since you are giving up the severance payout.
Your comprehension is also poor. The goodbye dates were laid out today, so there is no excuse to call this endless.

COP is circling the drain along with a lot of other companies in this industry. So much for this administration being the saving grace!

That’s demonstrated self leadership and action. Bravo! These recent announcements and the soon to follow from Shell, SLB, HAL, are demonstrating pre-knowledge of future conditions or events…
