Westlake entrance and parking situation

Who else strongly feel that company HQ should fix their entrance + parking chaos first before calling more professionals back to office?

The single 2-lane entrance the is crossed by walking construction workers is frustrating/dangerous in the morning.

But leaving is worse. That merge as taking a right past the exit gates into a single 1-lane exit for 50ft is absurd for a F500 HQ campus. No wonder the parking garage gridlocks up to the fourth floor as teams all exit at the same time. Simply install a second exit to the main street.

Remove the big speed bumps that slow the sports cars down to .5mph. Leave the 5 smaller bumps for each set and that will help smooth the flow of traffic in the morning. Mirrors around corners would also help as they have designed pedestrians walking into elevators right by a vehicle blind corner.

This is common-sense improvements before calling back more people RTO.

@7n5 The Westlake garage. Not the one at your house.

I arrive about 7:30 every morning and leave at 4PM. I have never had any issue entering or exiting the garage.

@32x It is. It looks like a VW Bug with 70s psychedelic paint and at least 10 executives in huge shoes come out.

@18a please share more about this “executive” bus, is this for real?

I’ve been with Schwab since August. I get in the office around 7:30 every morning and have found no issues getting into the garage. I usually walk, but on rainy days I habe taken the shuttle, and have never waited more than 5 minutes.

@18a
"I also love how, if you are waiting for the contacted bus instead of the schwuttle, you will be yelled at for accidentally going into the “executive” bus. I don’t know, I would think leadership would want to have even the semblance of morale, having leaders ride the bus with the peasants doesn’t seem like a big deal, but having special buses for leaders (that likely smell better and have ACs that work) is really funny. As is the fact leadership can still park in the closed garage."

Wow... definitely a complete opposite of Chuck's love of servant leadership..... Shame.

I also appreciate the 3+ police cars (often blocking a turning lane or two) who somehow favor the corporation enough to sit and fish for people going 5 miles above the speed limit as they rush to an 8 AM meeting knowing that the “schwuttle” will be non existent and they will have to walk the ten minutes in Texas heat across a shadowless campus.

I can’t help but think the message is in purpose, drive in or out and the feeling of surveillance from the multiple cop cars is intense.

Remember when they added a “no U turn” sign out of the blue in a Wednesday, and we could watch out the windows as cops immediately pulled over anyone who was basing their driving on muscle memory of the sign not having been there for years?

The schwuttles are a joke. The AC doesn’t work, and even though there are two, I’m often waiting 15+ minutes only to decide to walk and see one parked in front of in front of the cafeteria with no one to be found.

It is clear that the message is that not only do they not care, they want to make it clear what the hierarchy is and how they view their employees. I’m not sure if it better or worse that they are so blatant. A little faking would at least not hurt the morale compared to how they behave now.

These would all be great suggestions for a company that actually cared about its employees!
