I thought saying yes to everything would keep me safe from layoffs, and now I’m drowning in twice the workload. Cutting back feels impossible without risking everything, and I’m just exhausted. Not sure any of this even helped, so take it from me, know your limits before it’s too late.

@OP don’t listen to those so called experts on work hard take on take they are clowns who have never worked a day in their lives. Usually he flunkies. Been thru many layoffs never seen hard work or extra have any bearing on if you get canned. Trust me you want to be one of the first to go. It’s miserable otherwise you do everyone’s work for the same salary.
I've learned I've had to set boundaries and limits, and respectfully say no to additional tasks, to avoid risking being backed up on my current list and not meeting deadlines. I've been taking PTO for medical and personal appointments.
The age-old misstep.
At least we can still celebrate Labor Day unironically . Cheers to that
