Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Is inconsistently meets a death sentence?

Received inconsistently meets during half year review. Am I being prepared to be sla-ghtered here?

Been here 16 years. Uprooted my life in Colorado to move to hub (CLT) last year and now they want to probably let me go.

I was an IM after years of being meets and exceeds. I carried one and a half years as and IM. Just passed mid year. I am now a meet. So in my opinion, it doesn’t mean it’s a death sentence. Mind you my work product hasn’t changed during any of this time, but I digress.

@159 Agee. I was a BCM in Corporate Risk. I consistently had high Meets reviews, myself and all my BCM peers with the high titles and pay got the boot July 22, 2025. It’s all about cutting money to boost profits and cutting heads. But Charlie is going to get an additional $30 million bonus. This is the part that su-ks! He puts good employees out of work and doesn’t care what happens to them.

10 years of meets and exceeds. New set of clowns at the helm gave me IM because I told them where to stick their political optics driven BS and was laid off. Hey. Kiss my behind. I am loving this weather.

I was on IM for two years. 4 reviews and was not laid off. 2 of my team members were laid off. One was a manager the other an IC. I’m currently at a meets tho. I really think they pick the high earners on the team and if they can’t justify your pay you get the boot.

Anecdotally, two people on our team were given IM and both laid off for location. I'm not sure if they felt it 'kinder' to give the IM so folks who they were going to lay off anyway, in order to spare folks who are in a hub and they are keeping... or if they needed additional paper trail... [tech]

@11h
Employee Relations is backed up with midyear disputes! My manager said they had to give IM to 2 people on our team. You want to hear something funny?? Our team is hiring!! They are probably bringing in our replacements!

Dispute it, I disputed mine and got it changed but I was out on approved leave when the rating was entered. wry sneaky tactics to get people to quit!

Received an IM at year end 2024. I never received an IM in my 20+ years at WF. Never got my mid-year rating because I was laid off. I have known others who have weathered an IM until they received a meets rating. Contest the rating. There is no such thing as job security anymore. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

@e2 No policy violation.

@bc This wont happen unless there was a policy violation of some sort that resulted in the lower rating.

I've been offered by 3 bosses to move on the last 2 years. F that! Unfortunately your situation is the exact reason why I won't move. I'd move for a job I hate, a company that has gotten toxic and all to just get shown the door with no regard to my loyalty. I hope you dispute the rating and find your way. Good Luck!

Call employee relations and challenge the inconsistent meets. They will do an investigation. Tell them you want the inconsistent meets changed to a meets.

You have been teed up with the IM. If they need to reduce headcount it will be you. Be ready for IM at year end if they haven’t set you free by then.

Not necessarily. If it was a needs improvement, yes. For for IM, that probably just means you're the odd man out this go around.

If they did lay you off, they would need to find another person to take the IM.

It depends. If your job can be replaced in P&I(or AI) then probably. If you changed managers and your manager is PorI then probably. Your case shows that moving for WF might not be a good idea. Was your 1up or 2up manager changed? Were the metrics subjective in your performance review?
For the rest of us note that WF is far from its efficiency standards. There will be a lot more churning and burning of employees to go thru.
