So many MDs have job postings on their teams for Director or below that require something like an MBA or CFA, yet these same MDs only have a bachelors. I realize this isn’t specific to BNY but as someone in that network I’ve been seeing so much of this lately. As a manager, I don’t care where you went to school - I’m looking at your experiences first and if you interview well and seem like you could fit in. I have an MBA but it hasn’t really been a driver in my career. I wonder how much hiring managers actually pay attention to this.

Our previous CIO, who folllowed the CEO out the door, didn’t even graduate college AFAIK. At least, no bio I saw ever mentioned college, which is kind of suspect.
Your education degrees quite honestly are only good enough to get you your first position. Your certificates are only good enough to start you on new responsibility in your career. It is your practical work experience, drive and attitude that get you jobs. I’ve seen plenty of MBA’s , Doctorates etc. that are useless in a position. We see alot of this now with offshore people and their watered down degrees. It’s a ruse that responsible firms don’t fall for.
And BNY is not a responsible firm.
