What is the deal with the new titles? Seems like it’s going to combine J and K and o may have one level VP. What does that do to someone who was in line for a promotion from J to K? Will the salary bands change??

The elusive salary bands, that HR refuses to publish even when specifically asked. They tell you to ask your manager. Manager says the one they have hasn't been updated since late 2000's. It's all smoke and mirrors with this place. Severance would be a life saver at this point.
HR is making the merge for J’s to K’s optional. The J’s have will have the option for free ice cream on Friday’s instead of the grade promotion. Free ice cream Friday’s is definitely the better option financially.

All level L will be laid off
it will drain K levels as they are becoming compared to their VPR peer group highly paid and they will cut the one's who earn the most in this new level
former Ks are not getting demoted, they will get simply laid off in the long run

As a long term K I'm disgusted at being demoted by being merged with Js.
Who cares ... Neither are real VPs (not outside of BNY anyway). Most are are glorified supervisors or processors, making peanuts.
It appears to be a global trend to make people look like they've been "promoted", it's the equivalent of inflation or money printing in the titles realm.
