Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Preparing for future NK decom?

A SI and Ops Spec. roles had a last-minute meeting this week stating that we're looking at reduction of roles due to NK's lifecycle.

Anyone else catch any more details on this?

Shell didn't sell bp NAK. They were 50/50 partners and bp is the Operator. Back in the late 1990's, Amoco at that time did not have the resources to lead the design and build of NAK. Shell agreed to lead the project and bp would be Operator. This was a strange agreement but Shell was the frontiers in deepwater GoA. NAK started up in 2000 and the regulatory end of life of the facility is 2033. BP needs to be cash flow positive to keep producing for as long as possible which means some positions will be phased out over time.

It’s offshoring more discipline engineers to TSI as part of the resilient operator framework. Everything is for sale for a price but who would buy NK?
