Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

India hard-hit by tarriffs

Can you imagine if there were a tariff on 'human capital' for companies like AT&T which are stacking their payroll with overseas workers from India, et al.?

I could imagine having job protection no matter how I perform. That would be very nice.

What is bad is kick backs to Indian execs by Indian own IT companies (may be the second tier ones)
May not be to all Indian execs but to some.
And some in companies Indians exploited volunteer hour matching to the hilt with lining the pockets and forking money to quid pro quo deals.
Especially some members of Indian community are very notorious for shady dealings.

Stop talking about it and do something.. I've said it, and I will say it again. Follow your elected leaders on social media and expose what is going on. DO IT OVER AND OVER. Be sure to point out that the lobbyist that T sent to DC is a shill. I walk the halls of the congress every time I go up there to talk about how T off shored security, and has built a workforce in India that does not pay ANY American taxes. I was laid off four months before my rule of 75, and I will tell you this, I will cost this company AWAY more than it would have cost them to keep me until my rightful retirement. Post to every elected leaders thread as many times as it takes. The bottom line is T is supporting India which is a country that is supporting Russia. If that is not a security risk and a back door, I don't know what is.

@OP even if tariffed, it’s a win for American companies

Trump is excluding our biggest export, services. The target should be companies that offshore but reap the benefits of being homes in USA.

It won’t be a tariff but it will be taxed very soon.

Trump will get it done.

I guarantee it.

Population India: 1.45 Billion... 1,450,000,000
Population USA: 340 Million... 340,000,000

The problem is that too many Americans don't understand math.
If Americans understood math, then they would be concerned about how quickly our job markets can be overrun...as they ARE BEING RIGHT NOW.
Americans don't understand why someone would be motivated to leave India and come here.

The billionaire class likes depressing working-class wages...ACTIVELY wants to DEPRESS wages. No better way of depressing wages than the threat of sending an Indian HINB back to India if they don't act like a modern-day slave in the USA.

And they expect working-class Americans to compete with that...

Nah, not waiting for an election (or elections) to get results anymore...

the tariffs are meant to put pressure on india's relationship with china and has nothing to do with importing cheap office workers. the cheap office workers benefit US corporations and therefore their buddies in the government. will never happen without workers pushing back. no one is coming to save you so you're going to have to save yourself by working with your fellow employees to put pressure on your politicians

It’s coming. Executives better plan accordingly. Should be 100% markup based on their salary. If they are the best and brightest, not just the cheapest, companies will pay it. They also need to cap the total number of visas allowed, not just per year, but total. These actions need to stop.
