Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

@xm

It is worded clear as day. Leadership = Managing Committee, and I believe the survey even says that.

Currently 48% of employees approve of the management committee. In other words, more than 1 out of every 2 people think the MC is not good. And those are limited to the people who actually took the survey, there are many employees who are so down on the bank they skip the survey altogether.

This is a mess for GK, a mess for JR and all the other MCs. It has never been this bad and while revenue isn’t growing, investors are getting tired of the rhetoric about expense management. If I were a bettor, I’d take the under on GK making it to 2027.

@br i would guess the main reason the approval rating is so high is the question is worded somewhat vaguely ("leadership team" or such) so it's not exactly clear that when you're rating it the metric would roll up to your exec leadership.

@e7

She did kind of step in her own dung by not pre-reading any of the questions. It was an unsophisticated, clumsy approach that backfired.

Oh no - not the super useful and completely transparent live q&a! Not sure how I'll regain the will to go on...

JR’s reign will end and she will be humbled, kind of fitting for a girl from a small town in Iowa who lost her sense of humility along the way. Just a disgusting human.

The hubris from the overall MC is astonishing given the Bank’s performance over the last several years and it seems they all prefer to stay in their cocoons and make decisions based on self preservation and self promotion.

@am oh puhhlease! If they get rid of these sessions what else would these id--t execs do? Remember they are neither smart nor creative. Just parroting along McKinsey playbook.

I wasn’t aware until today that “snarkety” was a word. They act completely shocked when someone gives them negative feedback or asks a question like this. The person that asked it essentially said the quiet part out loud. I bet there are many others that have the same sentiments. They would never lose sleep over letting people go but the mere second someone suggests their “leadership” management committee roles be outsourced it was not taken well. That 48% approval of the management committee is too high. Hopefully it’s lower next time.

That's what happens when the executive committee is so out of touch. They go out of their way to come up with accountability systems to hold us accountable for RTO.

But when it comes to rewarding us at the end of the year or rewarding loyalty or just simply treating us like adults and stop insulting us with fake answers, they come up short 100% of the time.

My favorite part was her saying, we hear you, you want us to celebrate careers..then admitted that all the anniversary information was incorrect. You want to celebrate us but not enough to make sure the data is right, that felt awesome. JR if you read this, putting names and anniversary years on the screen isn’t what anyone cares about, it’s just you doing it to say you care. We all can tell by your tone you don’t, so stop. Second favorite part was her being shocked that the managing committee had a 48% positive rating, but keep on calling people Gunjan’s made up version of snarky and changing RTO rules because that will definitely improve morale and TTUS results.

She was 100% cherry picking the questions and that one fooled her by the way it started off. You could read her face as she went through it her anger was apparent....amazing job

The person who was able to slip that question through should become an executive immediately. Brilliant!

@OP
If cost cutting and efficiency are our top priorities, has the company explored replacing or outsourcing the executive leadership team to a consulting firm like McKinsey or even leveraging an AI model - given that many strategic decisions appear to follow generic industry trends anyways.
