Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

What’s the deal with India?

I joined Fiserv in BH earlier this month and confused by all the mentions of India. On many sheets with headcount and capacity planning, they list USA employees and India employees.

Is this company related to India?
Is offshore entirely India or are there other locations in EMEA or Latam?

Just not sure why they would only hire India for offshore if we’re not formally an Indian company by any means

Just confused by all this

The Capacity spreadsheets do have the US and Remote India listed separately, with different costs for the resources.

Yep they are cheap, they are not better, and that is from experience.
It takes 2 - 3 times longer to get work done. Language barrier is always there. Then toss in cultural differences and holidays.

H1B Visa for the On-shore, hopefully, will change, and the laws about how to book development time. Only then, maybe some changes will occur.

They also don't stick around long, so re-training is constant, and projects get delayed.

You pay for what you get - just take a look at the Stock price - dropped like a rock

Welcome to Corporate America!
Most US companies let go people in US and offshore to India last 3-5 years.
We will be able to see true economic impact in next 5 years. But it might be way too late.

Fiserv let a bunch of workers in Alpharetta go a few years ago. Then replaced them with Indians. Liars will say that these foreigners have better qualifications but the Americans that got layed off were doing the same job. They would also call us racists for mentioning the obvious.

I hope they won't follow the Visa way with 90%+ Indian executives and managers. The impact of this move is hard to describe.

Fiserv has huge presence in India with multiple office locations. In terms of population, Fiserv employees based in India is also huge. Apart from India, Fiserv has offices in APAC too eg Singapore, Australia, New Zealand. The expansion in India has been noticeable while decrease in headcount in many locations especially US.
