I was honestly surprised by how fast the closures are happening. Thirty-one branches gone in just two months is no small thing. If I worked in a branch right now, I’d be nervous. It really does seem like they’re aiming to cut it all down to the absolute minimum. The writing’s on the wall, and it doesn’t look good for frontline staff.

Don’t forget that they also relocate a branch to a better location.
They've been closing about 10-15 per month. Especially during the summer months, ironically.
As of June 11, 2025, Wells Fargo has 6,289 locations in the United States, including both branches and ATMs. This number includes approximately 4,800 branches across 36 states and Washington, D.C., and around 12,700 ATMs. California has the most branches with 1,289 locations, accounting for about 20% of the total.
So 31*6 is 186 branches closed this year at this current rate. 186/4800 means Wells Fargo is closing 3.8% of its branches. Sounds like a lot but don't forget Wells Fargo is big..
At that rate it'll take 23 years to close them all. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but none of us will still be working here by then.
The future is digital banking... That's right... Say it slowly D i g i t a l Banking. Make sure you emphasize the I's. Cause that is how they bank.
