I thought this was to keep people informed on layoffs, not for people to be crying about other’s accomplishments and show their envy and jealousy.

Apparently the "manufacturing engineer" in Clifton is a former union person who was rewarded with the title by management for his useful role in ratting people out. The other engineers all have at least a bachelor's degree. He's not typical. Just a management toady. They even gave his inexperienced wife a job, pushing her to the front of the line and protecting them both from layoffs. Wonder what they're going to do when Clifton closes?

@af . There are several within aerojet that have engineering titles but no formal education. Apparently now, you do not need a degree to be a manufacturing enginner.

Most professional degrees are like this, law schools complain that fresh graduates don't have any idea of how courtrooms work. The foundational theories are taught but the day-to-day application are always going to be a "ramp-up" for engineering. Things can be very specific depending on where the college grad ends up working with things like "tribal knowledge". It's always been this way. But hey, at least they're not accountants running a large engineering company, right?

Agreed with previous poster. Lots of kids coming out of college who don’t know anything, “engineers” simply because of a piece of paper that they forgot 97% of the content already.

There are also an assload of people called engineers, with advanced degrees, who can’t do even the simplest of tasks.

Maybe you should read the job descriptions where it says something along the lines of “or equivalent experience”. You should complain about NCGs with inflated salaries that need their hands held. I know a few non degree engineers and they hold their own and then some.

Rochester SAS had 0 folks let go (confirmed); it is tough to believe any CS folks in Rochester would be let go (as they generate a good chunk of corporate profits at the moemnt).
PE director said it’s mostly IDL-heavy people. Not many engineers were affected. 0 project engineers in SAS were let go, however our program admin was let go.
Next rumor I’ve heard is now December with my site (Van Nuys) being targeted :/

Our site was planning and PMO. All were obvious underperformers . Seems random
