Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What is exactly is a ‘business execution consultant’

Anyone find it interesting that half these jobs appear to be completely useless and this job title is not used at any other company?

@aq+1jtsba97g I'm a lowly scrum master and would much prefer this role as an individual contributor. I hear they get lunch breaks, get paid more, and get to get off work at a reasonable time! What a dream job!

I was a PM4 then had a title change to a BEC3 after a reorg. No change in job duties. My manager told me there was no difference between the two. Of course, he lied and I found out much later that the bonus structure was less. I had no way of fighting it.

@OP I decided to let AI determine what exactly is a BEC? Are they business analysts or project managers? AI Prompt: Analyze the following job description . How much of it would fit the job of a business analyst? How much of it would fit the job of a project manager? Rate the agility of the job.
The job d I gave it came back with: Estimated Fit for PM: I would say roughly 50-60% of the core responsibilities and skills lean towards the typical functions of a Project Manager, particularly the strong emphasis on "execution," "delivery," "tracking," "reporting," and "quarterbacking" projects. Okay, let's break down this job description for a "Lead Business Execution Consultant (Product Owner)" role at Wells Fargo.
The Job d I gave Gemini in this case was more agile than normal. You are a manager/leader of the "project" not the people. Hybrid or not, most of them are in India locations now. I wonder if they are trying to make sense of WF wacky jobs.

@a7+1jtsba97g, BECs are not transitioned from project managers, but BECs are mostly transitioned from business analysts. Yes, BECs are basically analysts!

The BEC is supposed to be a business analyst. In fact they are glorified note keepers. They are not trained. They get their job thru a...s.. kicking. They are any or all of these (business analyst antipatterns)

  1. The Order Taker: The BEC simply documents exactly what stakeholders say they want without questioning, analyzing, or challenging the requests. Then they load up the Jira requests.
  2. The mind reader: Instead of eliciting and verifying requirements, the BEC makes assumptions about what the business needs based on prior experience, personal opinion, guesses, or incomplete information. 3) The knowledge baron: of the processes, the data silo (silo keeper), the data model (i.e. the DBA) and the risk management practices who the flow or exchange of information to QA, developers, and risk management. documents are not provided or if provided in arcane places. gemini.google prompt "what are the antipatterns of business analysis? give the antipattern and what you title you would give to the ba practicing that antipattern." In short the BECs that I had contact with were the worse business analyst, where the worse and most overpaid and useless in my opinion.

A BEC is basically an Analyst that finally transitioned from being an hourly employee to salary based.

One thing is certain, a consulatant is not a manager role, it's a staff employee role who is of course an individual contributor.

Many BECs were transitioned from the title of project manager.

Now, most of the BECs are in India.
