Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Should I sell my Intel shares before I get my pink slip?

This is a question that many are asking because Intel has such a generous stock grant program and ESPP (employee share purchase plan). Also, studies show employees hold far too much company stock. This comes from loyalty affects and also a feeling that you somehow know the prospects of the company better then the market and expect the glory days to return (even if this is just pure fantasy).

Unfortunately, now that the stock is down 50%, you are probably asking this question too late to do much good. However, if you have other big gains because you bet on high flyers like Moderna, Teladoc and Bitcoin and happened to sell before the crash, you could take some tax losses by selling your Intel shares to offset other gains. If you have no other gains then the decision becomes nearly impossible. If you are in this group, grab a quarter from your pocket and flip the coin... you may get lucky.

Whether you decide to sell or not do not do it right now. You're emotional and rightfully so. Emotion based financial decisions are a poor choice.

I shorted Intel when the new CEO was announced. Then added to the position when I read about IDM 2.0. I covered just before the earnings call because I figured the stock would bounce once they said they were going to do a big layoff. I'm no day trader but this looked like such a fat pitch I couldn't pass up the trade. BTW, don't do this if you work at Intel, they have rules that say you can't be short if you are a high grade level.

Yes, HR. Before u get the can.. You worked with unscrupulous middle management as long as they delivered. Now everyone is exposed. Time to flatten the org structure and get back to making computer chips.
