Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Going to end it all if I am left standing.

Posting this here as it's anonymous. I can't handle the stress of this painful reorg and to be left standing and laid off in this job market is not something I can handle. At least if I go, CVX has to pay 2X my salary in life insurance to my family. That with my savings and other accounts they will be taken care of.

This is a fake troll post. The topic is serious and real but the OP should be ashamed for treating a serious mental issue like an "Oh $hit" topic on a site trolled by many people spewing garbage daily.
One obvious tell, among others, is that no CVX or major corp. employee anywhere, anyhow doesn't know that you can't make an insurance claim for the subject incident. Please save your alleged real compassion for a real person, not an anonymous troll just trying to stir up $hit. Thanks.

@jt+1jtht4nfb This should not be taken down. That comment is clearly by someone feeling what we all are (except for ELT) but in a more desperate way. I've never seen a company like Chevron conduct a restructuring this slowly which is making everything worse. They should just select who they want to cut, give them a healthy severance and let them go on with their lives versus just playing mind-f----k games in order to avoid paying EOI and or unemployment benefits. The ironic thing is the biggest winners of this method are the blood su-kers at Mckinsey and EY who bill the company by the hour.

OP...please go see a therapist or a doctor who can get you some help.

Praying for you friend. It’s a new chapter, a new opportunity, and I guarantee you’ll be happier . Taking the easy way out is selfish and your family would rather be broke with you than rich without you

this is a really difficult time for many people. Su----e is never the answer. It’s only transferring your pain to everyone else whoever loved you. It’s normal to feel this way when things feel overwhelming and uncertain. Please please reach out to Chevron EAP. They are licensed therapist that truly care and want to help. You can call or text 988 from any phone and speak with strange su----e preventionvolunteers 24 hours a day. EAP is available 24 hours a day at 800 860 8205

As someone who was raised by a single mother who attempted su----e many times during my childhood and eventually succeeded in an overdose she did not come back from, your children will never forgive you, will not be okay, and you may just wire them to do the same thing in times of difficulty, as opposed to choosing to be resilient, set the example of what it takes to face challenges head on and overcome. I made a decision years ago when I had children to teach them the latter, it's resonated with them as they enter young adulthood and face challenges, and I am so thankful I forced myself to learn to cope with and manage challenges because I cannot imagine not being here to see them thrive. I sincerely hope this resonates with you, you overcome, and you have the opportunity to watch your own children live their best lives, then reflect and find immense thankfulness you allowed yourself to not only witness their growth & development, but to have a positive impact on them, as opposed to the worst kind of impact. As a parent, you have the obligation to put them and their future first.

This is not worth it man, you are so much more valuable to your family than a check.
Imagine that your spouse is thinking of doing this and how you would feel without that person in your life, then put the shoe on the other foot. Its not worth it.
You are much more important than any material item your family has.
Please seek help if youre still feeling this way

PG&E is a decent company to work for. I worked there back in the late ‘90’s. The culture was good. They closed my office and I had an option to move to HQ. I took the severance, which was a generous 6 months despite being there less than two years.

There are other jobs out there. Start applying now. It feels good to be wanted. Even if it means a pay cut, look for a job that treats you with the respect you deserve!

I have been around the world. Seen kids in abject poverty be happy. Dont think money equals happiness.

OP, my brother took his life 7 years ago and the pain of his loss has been profound across our family, his friends and colleagues, and throughout the communities he participated in. It has splintered our family as well. Whatever pain you are experiencing is far less than that which you would cause. Please get help—EAP or otherwise.

PG&E has hired some of the San Ramon Chevron folks that didn’t want to move. If you don’t have a problem with how PG&E robs people blind you may be able to get a job there.

why would you let the company do that to you? Interesting thing is usually life insurance doesn’t pay if you’ve committed su----e so that should be off of your list of thinking if you need to get help get help perhaps she need a little medication to help cope with the stress your doctor can help you with that. Best of luck to you.

I'm really sorry you are going through a rough time. Nothing is worth your life, especially not this job.

Please, please, contact your doctor or primary care physician as they might help, or contact one of the following:

National Su----e Prevention Lifeline

  • 1 (800) 273-8255

The Crisis Text Line 74174, it should be available 24/7

Also, can someone try to contact HR and have this site release user info so a life can be saved?

I feel you brother. You are not alone. I too am was in the same spot. However over the few weeks, I realized life is more than just making a living. You have to live life. Life is not about what happens to you, it is about how you respond to what happens to you.

Don't make a permanent decision based on a temporary circumstance. Stay strong!!! Your family needs you more than you know. Pray.

If this is a serious post, please get help.

I question whether it is. Just because it isn’t logical. If only 2 years worth of additional income would put your family in “taken care of” status, you have plenty already to see you through. Depending how long you’ve been with the company, you could already be getting up to year of pay as it is via severance, so the delta is only 1 year and some change at most of pay. All to leave your family with a life of trauma. This doesn’t make any sense.

Op,

Your family need your presence more than your money, nothing can replace a father a son or a good husband.

If this a troll, then shame, but you perhaps need some help to navigate through tough times, life is never easy, try to get the right help and support so you can navigate through these challenging times.

The money will not replace the importance of you in your family’s lives.

If you hate what CVX is doing then limit its impact to just to you, not your family. You have a choice if you want to leave your family with this burden, don’t do it.

My family came close to losing everything when I was a child. We had churches bringing us groceries. I would not be the person I am today if hadn’t watched my father struggle and overcome adversity. He taught us perseverance, getting up early and getting dressed for work even if there was none. He had self respect, and trust in God. We respected him even more for it. You can’t buy that with money.

If your this stress and this is the best you got, and you had nothing to show in CVX? Then this job was not meant for you from the start. Red flag already.

You need to do better research. Life insurance does not pay out for su----e. In any case, job loss is not the end of the world. You'll find something else and everything will be OK. Stay alive.

I am so sorry that this corporation made you feel that way, shame on them. This job and company is not worth your life. Please talk to someone - EAP, therapist, friend… there are resources available.

You are worth everything to your family and friends, you are loved and your life is precious. There will be something better in the other side. I understand how hard this all is, it’s so bleak and gross. Just please hold on tight as these waves ebb and flow. YOU are better than this and destined for so much greater.

I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. It sounds like you’re carrying an overwhelming amount of stress and pain right now, and I want you to know you’re not alone. There are people who care about you and want to help—not just because of what you mean to your family, but because your life matters.

This moment is incredibly hard, but it doesn’t define your future. Job uncertainty is frightening, but your well-being is far more important than any job or reorg. Please consider talking to someone—a friend, family member, or EAP. If you’re thinking of harming yourself, I urge you to reach out to the crisis lifeline by calling or texting 988.

Your life has value beyond work or finances. Things can change, and with support, you can get through this.

Please reach out to EAP - they’re so accessible, easy to talk to, and will connect you with someone that will listen and provide you thoughtful guidance. They’ve been there for me and my family and really have helped. The folks that support genuinely care - we all do!

You’re right It’s hard to think about the unknown. At the end of the day Chevron is a big part of our lives, but not the only reason we live.
