Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Danger this site is not anonymous! CVX big brother is tracking!

I have a CVX colleague, who has been recently pulled up by CVX HR MBU regarding an IT breach!

Some of this is stating the obvious:

  1. Do not click on this website link with your CVX laptop, or CVX mobile hotspot
  2. Do not share your personal iPhone favourites, notes, passwords or google browsing history with your iOS… CVX IT can access this info
  3. Do not like or post any comment unless you are connected to a 3rd

Party VPN (multi hop preferred)

CVX big brother is tracking you!

That’s been my perspective too. I don’t post often, but this is a valuable forum for genuine and unfiltered discussion between employees. Unfortunately, our workplace is not one that fosters or promotes genuine or authentic communication, so this is a valid alternative.

I don’t use company devices, I don’t post protected or company confidential information. Views shared are my own.

My philosophy is that if this is the sort of company that wants to invest resources in trying to forensically determine my real identity for posting personal opinions of a non-confidential nature on a public forum, then it isn’t a company I want to work for - especially when the same company makes it unsafe to have these conversations in the workplace.

I’ll share my story – take it for what it is. This may not work for everyone, but it works for me.

I've been on this site since before COVID and have never visited it on my own devices. I use company gear and log in whenever I like. If they catch me for this, so be it.

I don’t post often, but every other day, I’ll add a blurb. If there’s a rich discussion, I’ll chime in with a longer post. I share things that may be useful to others, and I find personal satisfaction in that. If Chevron (HR, IT, or any random manager) wants to fire me for this, so be it. I put in my eight hours, take care of business, and management seems to value that.

Again, if my using this site is a problem for someone, I’m happy to answer any questions they may have. Knowing how they operate, I’m certain they would block the site if they didn’t want us using it. Think about it – if they block this site, five new ones will pop up. The cat is out of the bag, and no one can stop the discourse now.

I actually think they’re reading this, scanning our rants and venting to get a real sense of the workforce. I can’t say for sure, but that’s my feeling.

At the end of the day, this is just my personal situation, and it allows me to be a bit less cautious than others.

Have a great night – see you here tomorrow.

That's is so obvious everyone should know it! WOW

NEVER EVER EVER EVER do anything non work related on company equipment

but then again I have so many CVX employees who lack this basic knowledge

When I worked at CVX prior to 2021. I had my own personal iPad/iPhone hotspot connected to the cellular network for my private browsing/ networking - all that stuff so I could logon here fro example without the company finding out

I mean, so long as you don’t post sensitive information, not during work, and not on a company device, it seems like they’re asking for a lawsuit if they fire you for using this site…

2 UK CVX employees have been notified of a CVX IT Code of Conduct warning….

They posted on the layoff on their personal phone and personal computer while logged into Google.

Their CVX work laptop and CVX phone were logged into their personal google account… CVX are scanning All Chevron devices for access to thelayoff site…. And they were pinged!

Don’t be another layoff stat…. Stay safe

Do you think Chevron IT and HR are sophisticated enough to figure out who’s posting here if they are not using a company device?

Yes I have heard from a reliable source that MW and the board are very unhappy at the negative, derogatory comments and insults….

Numerous ENGINE IT resources have been assigned to track CVX employees.

Chevron legal and HR are monitoring daily and are requesting certain post to be removed.

Keep your history deleted

I am sure Chevron DOES care, but if they blocked this site, it would go out on Reddit with no moderators. Lot of IT capable folks could take this further.

Chevron, is not a very nice player if you threaten their stock price, They used Lawyers for legal harassment and Public Relations companies to manage the public perception. In the Ecuador fiasco, they got Steven Donziger put under house arrest.

I am sure they have a team of IT and PR who have sold their souls to play dirty tricks on this website.

Jokes on you, I lurk here to gain intel about competition so I can bring it back to my own company to fight for equity. You won’t find my quoting to my HR about the source, though. Good luck firing me.

Chevron installed lie detector tests at the office and are asking people on the spot if they posted on the layoff com . You can refuse to answer but that’s the same as resigning.

I am aware of a number of derogatory comments on this site, some of which are currently under Chevron Corporate HR investigation….. many individuals are known from laptop and iPhone serial / MAC #….. Too difficult to prosecute, but easy to blacklist and layoff
