Voluntary resignation

Got out of meeting today about the voluntary resignation separation program. I'm thinking out taking it. Anyone else?

Check your unemployment benefits in your state so you are informed. Many southern / gulf states have maximum weekly benefits under $250. Say you make $1000 a week. The 4 extra weeks of Severance is worth $4000 - paid in a lump sum - which would take 16 weeks or more to accumulate with unemployment. And unemployment can be a royal pain - signing up, applying for jobs, documenting it weekly etc. If you think you can get another job within a month or two, the buyout may be better than a layoff.

Maybe they should start by keeping their state side employees and get rid of all of the outsourcing!

He-l no , not taking it, you won't get unemployment, it states specifically that this is not a reduction of Workforce that is why they are emphasizing voluntary since when has that company ever gave a sh-t about us with our 10-cent raises!!

Has no benefits and when I looked at cobra for a single person it's $900 a month. Unfortunately I have met oop for the year.... So very torn.

it might be a good option for some, might not be for others.

Could be a fresh start for those ready for something different, higher level, or just new.

If you are in the category of 'poor performer', you might get cut if they don't get enough interest

Absolutely will be attending one of the follow up meetings to learn more. The separation package being offered now is better than would normally be applied in a true RIF situation. Instead of guessing at answers, the leaders in our group are encouraging anyone who wants to learn more to attend one of the three meetings scheduled over the next ten days. This is a nice opportunity for people who might want to take advantage of it. Will it fit everyone and every personal situation? No. It is a nice alternative.

Do not take the voluntary resignation, you’ll get more in unemployment if you get laid off!

I don’t know. I like my job but if I’m going to be laid off anyway with worse terms I would regret not taking it. I’m confused and stressed.
