Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Industry Best Practices = Mediocrity

Be very cautious when you hear EXTERNALS who are hired as new so called “leaders” (BB) use buzz phrases like Industry Standard is to __________” or “Industry Best Practice is to do __________”.

The next thing that comes out of their mouth is NEVER to promote USAA being the “BEST” at all. It’s to make USAA mediocre. The justification for their suggestion is often to “help USAA become more efficient” .

The phrase is used by externals to keep USAA’s diehard employees “in their place” and to HIDE the fact that THEY don’t know USAA or what the heck they are talking about.

USAA USE TO BE AN INDUSTRY LEADER and an INDUSTRY DISRUPTOR now we are busy listening to outsiders who do give a hot damn about our Mission.

SPEAK UP IMMEDIATELY when you hear this! HEALTHY CHALLENGE by stating USAA’s goal is to BEAT the INDUSTRY, not to follow their lead!

Don’t give in to these OUTSIDERS! They are bullies! (BB)

FIGHT FOR USAA, OUR MEMBERS AND OUR EMPLOYEES! They are worth it!

It's a great thing that USAA doesn't have to answer to regulatory obligations from an external perspective...

Sure, Wayne basically siphoned millions of dollars from the members while gutting the company and accomplishing basically nothing.

However, it's foolish to pretend like regulators are lying about the reality of the company...

It's terrible however you really want to look at it.

They actually need to get rid of many of the long time employees. It was the internals that got the place in the first place. They had no idea what risk management looked like. They are the ones resisting every thing the “externals” have to say.

I think this is why USAA has gotten all of the penalties. They think they are above the regulators, stick their old way of doing business, and ignore what they "should" be doing. There is nothing wrong with excelling. However, USAA must not ignore the rules. With the mentality of this OP, it is clear that s/he is unwilling to listen to where USAA may be deficient.

OK blockbuster, get with the program and learn to adapt with changes in the industry. There is a reason we are where we are right now and it’s not because we are ki-ling it focusing on the old USAA ways. Yes there are amazing things that made us special, and we should hold onto those. But burying your head in the sand and refusing to evolve in other areas will have you looking for a job.

If only USAA had a CEO who was a true lifer. I’m thinking a 30+ years in the trenches with NO MILITARY background. That will surely set it on the right path…oh wait….
