Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Round 1 / Round 2

would it make sense for Round 1: roles less impacted by the Hess aquisition and Round 2 - roles more impacted by the Hess aquisition ?

this would allow time for the arbitration ruling before the selections are made

i have no inside knowledge on this - just a theory

What about arbitration leading to CVX getting Hess but then XOM throws down and swallows CVX

I expect union contract negotiations in 2026 to affect the timing of refinery layoffs. Chevron needs strike breakers until 2Q 2026 for its California refineries and laying people off a year in advance doesn't make sense.

Very few workers will come from Hess. We want their subsurface assets not their HR department.

The round 1 vs 2 will not be based on Region (which is your theory). Different functions will participate in each round.

Your hypothesis seems plausible.

and another question - would this allow Hess employees to participate in round 2 but not round 1?
