It's my last summer of college and I am really staking everything on Chevron internship happening--I've done all the paperwork but will existing offers be rescinded? It's too late to find anything else for this summer.

If you are really good with tech and innovation, and really interested in the opportunities, why do you even worry about the layoffs which happen all over the globe? which unfortunately will be a norm in the AI age. Young generations with brilliant talents and mind are always the future of a giant company. Look at Elon's DOGE team. Just talk to whoever that might help you for information. It might take time to know due to the changes, but you will be taken care of. Focus on your learning and growth, broaden your views, which will bring you the right opportunities for sure.
you could do better tbh.
Welcome to neocapitalism. This is the first step in the rest of your career. Prepare for this to be your new normal regardless of where you work.
Nobody here actually knows any facts.
The internship is safe.
There will probably not be an offer when it’s over.
You would probably keep the internship but you have to consider if it’s a good move to invest your summer in a company that is laying off and likely won’t convert interns to employees. The working environment will not be the best over this summer. Your summer may be better used elsewhere.
They'll honor the internship.
However, the conversion rate of interns to full-time offers is... (shakes crystal ball)... not looking promising.
They’re not even going to look at interns it’s a waste of time. Will you get hired though is another thing.
Yes
I am not aware of cvx ever rescinding internships. Anything can happen, and would be a tough gig this summer in the middle of a completely new organization. You should ask your cvx contact but also don’t assume it’s too late and seek back up plans
