UMR to Offshore Work

The wheels are in motion for this business area, only a matter of time. Start looking now.

WIPRO is in talks with UMR to offshore work. Demonstration of what's to be done and ramp up meetings have been going on since late December 2024 and still today. Leaders from contracts, implementation, claims, and more all present in these calls discussing the implications and what areas will be impacted. I was in these calls, I heard these conversations and am worried about my teams.

If you were impacted by a RIF and managed to find another internal role, you will have a target on your back. You'll be impacted again, only next time there won't be severance and they won't be nice about it. If you get RIF'd and are more than 10+ yrs in, just take the severance and go. Don’t do what others did and desperately try to find another role to stay.

Re: government progs, UMR is not strictly government. They're a TPA that was purchased by UHC. They handle all types in all LOBs. All fed and state government agreements have offshoreing restrictions built into their contracts. Was an Auditor for state and fed contracts almost 10 yrs here. That verbiage is usually a handful away from the signature page.

Only certain portions of gov progs have off shore restrictions. It is absolutely not the case for a majority of lives in gov progs.

Re: the UMR staff member -
They're pushing work to WIPRO. Starting with contract processes on the back end - data and agreement terms loading, management and analysis, (contract terms violation, anyone - hello??) And going into claims processes / edits, and adjacent areas.
You'll start seeing less coming to you, and more redirected to them. Just watch and bid out. It's bad enough there's rampant favoritism, nepotism, and other highly unsavory practices going on in UMR - but now the fear of offshoreing. Good grief!!
I've been looking for a few months now myself and suggest others do the same

Hi, I work for UMR so I am curious to know more about that. What does WIPRO have to do with all of this? Sorry I dont know as much as you, but I have noticed things going on and I had a feeling they might be trying to push as much offshore as possible

Re: United making a big mistake
You are correct. It's all about who's in charge right now, and a lot of this is at Witty's direction. He did this at the last company he overseen, and it was a big complaint amongst staff there too. Saved the co tons of money, but ruined SO many lives. What's bad about this also, many contracts that UHC holds have a no offshoreing clause written into them. Typically it's in all government (fed or state), medicare, medicaid contracts - it's somewhere in the last section, just before the final signatures. UHC hides this by creating a US based manager and leadership team that oversees the work of the offshore team, and has US based staff as the "face" of the actual work to present outwardly. I've questioned it before, several times, because I knew it was wrong. Was told - not my problem, above my pay grade, worry about task at hand, etc. Basically: shut up and work

United is making a big mistake with all of the off shoring. The service levels are terrible. Cheap labor, but so many mistakes.

I don't recommend United to any customers as the level of service is lacking. It's really time to bring the work back to the states before they loose more business.

It seems like when all these companies started to offshore the work is when the scamming in this country started. Companies don't get to see what WIPRO does and they don't take any accountability for their mistakes.
