8 hours in office

Anyone else get a communication that a new expectation is that you're required to be in the office for 8 hours on your required 3 days each week and that this 8 hour requirement is now being tracked?

It all depends on your manager. There is no consistency. People badge in and stay for two hours, and leave with no consequences. Bad for those who follow the 8-hour rule.

Yes, we were told that 8 hours per day is being tracked for both in office and remote work (minimum 3 days in office); tracking is done using IP address, wifi &/or remote log in. We were also told this is a directive coming from Scott Powell; so if you are under his org, you should comply whether you've been notified or not. They also said it's looking for "trends"; they understand there are doctor appointments, etc. They are trying to stop people who show up in the morning at the office and leave at lunch, for example.

This is true and it su-ks. It’s a way to get people to quit so they don’t pay severance. So if they are checking via log in and not badges can we just keep our laptops logged in at the office? I’m good with that.

Nope. Still good to do ~ half days in office in conjunction with the remainder of that day being > 4 hours at home.

Can’t speak for future, but checked the tableau rto site us managers use to track all of this, saw nothing about hours or where your computer hit the network.

Yes, I’m in Technology and this was just communicated to us in our staff meeting. 8 hours, 3 days a week, and this will be used against us at review time . Doesn’t matter if you have a doctor appointment or kids to pickup from school. Eight hours is required. Absolute BS

If you vote for the union you can pick your own hours, and work from home, and only work 4 hour days!!!!!

Cool I’ll come in late, get coffee and go for a blast in the boys room, take an hour+ lunch and then hit the gym next door in the late afternoon and scoop my laptop up after I finish up in the sauna.

Sc--w this pathetic babysitting. My engineering team was most productive during Covid easily.

False. This is Charlie.. We aren’t moving to five days a week either.

Its true, 3 days a week, 8 hours a day. Badging can track you as you come in. But, where you are logging in from - remote vs on-campus - is something easily tracked. And for how long you are logged in. So disappointing to hear that this is going to take place.
Its out of the supervisors hands we have been told. I'd expect disciplinary action and review time action if the requirements are not met.
Last time I had to worry about time "in office" was when I worked at McDonalds - back in college!

I thought a bank's job was to lend money and make profits, but apparently it's to babysit a bunch of people who used to not need babysitting. The evolution of American business feels like a devolution of American culture.

If managers would do their job and manage employees, work, and productivity, none of this should matter - the focus on RTO and hours is focus on wrong thing. It’s basically saying managers don’t know what their employees are doing and producing

@ch
Bless your heart! You keep on believing that about exempt employees.

They can't require more than 4 hrs in office for exempt employees since 4hrs also counts as an in office day. WF really needs to stop worrying about this stupid stuff and focus on it's bigger issues. So much wasted on the RTO dashboard and now in office hourly monitoring.

hours are being tracked in new reports. what LOBs do with that will be up to them. The tricky part will be how they handle exempt employee's. I say most will go by the current guidance which is 6 hours, but as an exempt employee, I can work 5 hours and call it a day without using PTO.

True. I am a senior Director and this has been related to all managers. You should’ve heard this requirement by now. If you have not been briefed on this new requirement, please report your manager via Loudspeaker.

I heard the new requirement announcement….gonna be interesting.
What I want to know is who is the narc that runs the reports distributing to the managers? Is that a high paying job?
I’m being sarcastic about it, but I’m really sour about the whole requirement.
90’s called and wants 5days x 8hrs… and wear are your corporate attire🤢

Yes our line of business received that email today as well and there was an all hands call where it was discussed. Badging in/out is no longer tracked, as some buildings do not have scanners when you leave. It was stated that network log in and log out times are now being tracked and reported instead with 8 hours required on the 3 days we are in the office.
