Reorg in the RBU

Already started. Someone got the news for “reassignment” and the deck chairs are starting to get rearranged.

I thought the granite tower lease was 10 yrs and DaVita was 3 yrs. The granite tower is already a sublet so it can't be sub-sublet. Still would be interested in more Intel.

No need for head office in Denver if RBU and MCBU are combined into a NA Shale and Tight BU head office in Houston. Just leaves Greeley and Midland offices.

@apw, we only had a 3 year contract when we all moved to that building in April of 2023. Maybe we've got a little over a year before we're forced out completely. Either way, this whole idea of Chevron closing the Granite Tower office has been spread by leadership within Chevron RBU. Take it for what you will.

Denver building cannot be sublet under current contractual term. And even if RBU had sizeable cuts, the BU is already pressed for space, not going to fit everyone in Greeley. All of this is fake news. Reorg hasn't hit RBU yet in any capacity. Misinformation through and through.

It's almost like there have been chevron higher ups within RBU that have been letting certain information slip...

“reassignment” is not a layoff, “reassignment” means you are being sent to another place. To the poster who stated the WARN act is not required unless they is a certain number employees is correct, however, Chevron is not going to process this reorg one employee at a time. An example in the WARN act website is the employees listed at AutoZone stores in various states across the US. Individual cities are listed with numbers of less than 10 people who were laid off at AutoZone stores. Chevron will submit a WARN act notice for large numbers of people in various states. Chevron will not layoff individuals at sites to avoid the WARN Act.

Chevron is only required to provide WARN notice if the layoff exceeds a threshold.

Similarly, Chevron can elect to keep people on payroll until such a time that they issue a WAatN notice (plus 60 days). The extra few months of added income are little consolation for the disrupted career

If a layoff has been initiated in Colorado, Chevron is required to register with the WARN act in the state of Colorado. Chevron is required by federal law to provide 60 days notice to employees. The layoffs are recorded on the WARN website by state.

Strange that a building lease would appreciably alter Chevron's strategy as relate to the Denver office.

It's a relatively insignificant expense when compared to broader G&A. In addition, it is an expense which can largely be "transacted out" through sub-lease to another company.

Denver office not getting shut town. Details related to building lease terms would prevent this from happening.

Was there something announced? Spill the details already! Whatever happens there can help other people in other BUs see what to expect.

What does this mean? Reassignment within RBU? Or reassignment to another BU? I also heard people can't pick Denver in WorkDay as location they're willing to relocate to anymore. Is Denver getting shutdown?
