Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The oil and gas industry really needs to watch it when angering their talent

The industry is viewed by many and no better than the cigarette industry so treating their employees poorly is not going to help retain or attract talent.thr younger generations especially don't care for the industry. They need to check the arrogant attitudes and get real with their prospects. The blue collar areas will still be popular due to the pay but white collar workers have little to gain in this industry. Especially if the treatment is poor.

This really needed to be on top. @1jzd+1jebCIlx said it perfectly.

In a declining industry, Chevron needs fewer people around to turn off the lights. They don't have to worry about 'angering' employees, they aren't going anywhere as other oil companies are in the same boat.

The oil industry is in decline, a victim of its own subrogation to Green.

I don't know if you have checked lately, but finance and tech workers are about to have massive layoffs. Meanwhile, the oil and gas sector is looking pretty good. Who cares if green new deal people are trashing the oil and gas business. If it were not for the oil and gas business their quality of life would drop dramatically. Just look at all the Europeans chopping down trees so they can stay warm this winter. The GND movement is run by a bunch of hypocrites.

What is our fatality rate, anyhow, deaths per 100,00 man-hours? Mutilations per week?

Well, when you hire the less talented people you end up with current fatality rate and lack of super performance even when oil is above $90.

Our industry has tended to attract the lower end of the white collar workers for 15-20 years. The upper end go to finance or tech. We are probably ahead of retail but tied with manufacturing.
