Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR PSG’s too high

I got a glimpse of several of the HR postings and I was amazed at how many 26-27 jobs they have. HR should peak at about 24 for a GM, they don’t have any technical skills and are the least efficient organization in the company. I guess when you are in charge of grading the jobs you will take care of #1. What a racket!

Yup, I am trying to get into this industry and do think of myself as being very talented and accomplished but all I see is attractive people with a very mediocre mind getting hired for internships.

Do remember that Human Resources today is not the old employee friendly HR of a decade or so ago. Today’s HR are the buffer and protectors of management, not the rank & file ordinary employee. High pay is given to the new HR senior staff to safeguard the company from being accused of less than above board labor tactics, protecting management from accusations of discrimination, and participating in railroading so-called problem employees. Aka, being the henchmen for management.

HR managers need a lot of extra people to supervise. This helps them justify the high PSG’s per their own rules. Doesn’t matter that we have twice as many HR people as our competitors LOL.

We have more than twice as many HR people as any major oil co in the US. We need HR. But do we really need this many?

Who cares if HR has too many PSG26-30? I am happy for them. Doesn’t hurt me at all.

I agree with thr poster below and I am also not HR. If you want benefits and things like that we need HR. I do believe HR and the company in general seems to have it against W Males and I really feel that. They will for sure be the first to be laid off, unless you are in upper management, even if they are well qualified. That needs to be fixed and go only by qualifications and not by any other category.

Try running this place without HR and then come back and repeat your ridiculous comment about them not needing high PSGs because they lack technical skills (and no, I’m not in HR). The amount of stupid people doing stupid things that HR has to deal with daily is mind boggling. Yes RM is out of touch but HR as a group is very necessary.
