Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Offer Update

“Folks had the same negative attitudes in ‘89 and ‘98 about an offer…and yet the company did, in fact make offers that were too good to refuse. History is going to repeat itself. “
=================
AT&T is out of control and desperate. Offloading thousands of union represented technicians would be seen by Wall Street as a big positive. An enhanced offer will be made in 2023.

Keep dreaming, son. This isn’t the 80’s or 90’s.

Why pay someone to leave when the plan is working to get people to leave voluntarily. This is called natural attrition which is a good thing for AT&T.

Was that blissful period of loyalty the same era where AT&T was the only phone company? When people had to lease the phone in their house and couldn't buy one if they wanted to?

We have to compete in today's world, where phones and service are cheap and reliable. If you can't accept this, please find the door and leave before you are laid off!

That was a time when there was some loyalty between employee and employer and layoffs from the “telephone company” and similar companies were not the norm like they are today. Times have changed, no offer to be made when with a clear conscious let you go with a two week notice and a kick in the a-s.

Leadership has plainly stated they will not be paying anyone to leave. I'm not sure how they could make that more clear to you.

This is n untruth. There will be now more reductions due to specific agreements that could be jeopardized.

STOP SPREADING RUMORS! This will never happen because the company realizes that people are leaving in droves due to the reduction in health care and retirement benefits as well as losing vacation time. The longer you work at AT&T, the worse off you become!

There's either going to be an offer to motivate the employees with outdated skills to leave, or the company will fail as the employees with the newest, lucrative skills flee - without a package.
