Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Premier Industrial Software Company?

I no longer hear from DA and the rest that we are going to be a "premier industrial software company." It seems like the NASDAQ going into a tailspin showed them that actual goods and services are valuable. Is HW realizing that rent-seeking behavior (product as a service) is not rewarded in this business climate?

Even the software coming out of Honeywell doesn’t work as advertised. Or work at all. I’ve never seen so many new products released on waiver due to software issues. But we ship the cr@p anyway.

Actually, current plan is to cut internal costs as much as required to keep the stock price up in a possible “recession”. RIF, furlough, PIP, raise freezes, deductible increases, these are the tools being used by DA. Director best friend quote. Just be careful everyone still working for HoneyH€ll. Thank goodness I got RIFFED and got a raise and free benefits at my new job.

DA failed early in his attempt to make HoneyHell a software company. The current focus is on trying to bring in cash while telling Wall Street analysts that cash isn't important anymore.

The Allied-Signal/Honeywell aerospace cycle repeats. The abusive culture and vacuous leadership that exists at HON and the notion that amputating legs (productive employees) to stave off arterial bleeding or sepsis has resulted in a major loss of talent to competing firms. No amount of new hires (short of actually finding the "brightest and best" and paying them what they're worth) will bring the company back to where it was technically a decade ago. We are now in a 5-10 year cycle of the new kids re-learning what the castoffs took with them when they were laid off, PIPd or left out of frustration. Although not unique to HON, it is nonetheless sad to see the lessons of the past ignored.

You people keep thinking business is about making and selling products.
You will never make it in MBA school.
Business is about getting other people to give you money.
Goal is to get most money for least work.
The ideal is to convince rich patrons you will eventually make something and take their money for zero work ( startups, crypto, theranos, etc).
Honeywell is now looking for the next trend .. energy company, software industrial, quantum computing, health ,...trouble is .. what is next is "deglobalization" and honeywell will need an entirely new exec team to make that shift.

Too late now. They sucked the blood out of HW R&D for too long, it will takes years to reorient and deliver truly new products. Not even sure they even know how to anymore, all the brains have gone.
