I'm asking because I'm convinced there are two groups of people at T. Those who work way too much and sometimes do 80+ hour weeks and those who barely have anything to do. We need some kind of balance because group one, of which I'm a member, is about to break.

What WORK?
I just show up and look busy. Minority Female Boss is too busy looking at White Privledge talking about BLM crud & spouting Equity.
She cannot do my job, so she takes the BS answers I give her and goes on repeating the stuff we tell her. Too d-mb to know we lead her and with a little OT we all make a lot more money than her.
You work as long as you want. My goal being salaried in IT was to meet my objectives and any critical work my boss needed. Spending time on useless emails and distractions had to stop. I almost never worked on weekends I was needed for a system change. But at the end of each day I make sure I'd be through with the needed work by Friday. And yes, sometimes that Friday would be until 10 pm, but on Saturday and Sunday, I'd be free.
I usually work 60 a week or so.
40 plus hours and I was on vac
He's lying. He's not working 80 hours. That would be 11.4 hours every day of a 7 day week. I'd be shocked if he's working 50!

I have been semi -retired at T since 2003 after they reduced travel time and cut the time doing a job to increase production . I work fast and smart to finish by lunch ........ then don't charge everything off to make it look good on paper .

“If you are working 80 hours a week you are doing it wrong”…. My paycheck says otherwise. Looking at the comments it seems as though some people have never seen a paycheck with a lot of time and a half & double time on it. If they’re offering it, I’m taking.

I worked 2 hours on Monday and then took the rest of the week off. Nobody is around anyways. Best thing is I don’t have to use any vacation days. Pro-tip don’t save vacation days for the holidays, your boss is gone anyways.
If you're working 80 hrs a week then that's most likely your fault. You're most likely not doing your job and in turn have to work longer hours. Or, you're doing someone else's job.
Stop doing either one.
I’m salary. I work about 30 hours per week. All from home. As far as my leadership knows, I tell them 60. I got one of those individual bonuses this year so I must be doing a good job.

Intentionally miss enough targets and they will readjust their expectations.
I typically work only 15-20 hours per week, while getting paid for a full 40 hour week! It's a great job if you can get it!
working 80 + hours because you are in mgt and on a salary. Your boss has you by the you know what. if work is taking a toll on your mental health. take a downgrade and look for hourly jobs.
