Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How to try to keep a job here?

Given that I know a few people who did their job very well and ended up getting cut the same as those who barely did anything, apparently there aren't many rules when it comes to cut here.
Also, those who were not buddies with the manager were cut just as those who were favorites, so it seems that keeping the job is mainly based on pure luck.

Leadership does consolidate orgs and upper management does leave the company resulting in re-orgs. Then people are discarded that are unneeded or redundant.

T wants employees that must keep their jobs at any cost. This way you will do anything to meet their objectives no matter the moral cost. If you are the type that would hand over your mother to Hi---r to save your own skin, then you have a long career here.

confidence, socialize and leadership will keep you at att. if that does not work you still have that skill set to take to another company that values you like John Legere did.

If you’re mgt you get ranked and rated. Supposedly who gets cut is based on that. Totally arbitrary based on your bosses opinion of you.

AT & T is KNOWN for doing layoffs every December, which most corporations will not do out of pure human decency before the holidays - wait until after January 1 guys. And they lay off people they just hired claiming cost reductions which makes zero sense. Why did you go to the expense of training folks and doing sign on bonuses just to lay folks off once they finally start making money for you? I never worked there but have relatives who have and glad to say I work for a company who makes much smarter HR decisions. This is just lunacy.

The rational for surplus decisions at T follows the same logic as many other strategic decisions it’s made…absolutely none. The company is barely keeping its nose above water. Rather than stepping back and putting a stake in the ground with solid revenue producing channels and products, they simply surplus employees every single month without fail. Leadership has no answer, and they are quickly running out of runway. At some point soon, the market will dictate the fate of the company. You’ll notice the article about T complaining about TMO acquiring too much spectrum. TMO has a plan and is implementing, T just falls further and further behind, we didn’t even have the cash available to take part in the auction…simply embarrassing.
