I remember when people who left AT&T for greener pastures used to express their gratitude for the valuable experience they got here and for everything they had learned. People who leave these days act like they've escaped prison: happy that they're finally out and can't wait to never have to see or think about this place again. That's the best indicator of how low this company has fallen.

My time at T was a bitter/sweet experience.
Annual threats or actual layoffs in ITO. I was declared surplus only once and finally got the replacement job on day 60, late in the afternoon. Super stressful
In another position, was staring down the end of the job, they sold the division, but somehow I escaped the sale, which meant I had limited time, and I found another job, again.
The next job, worked a little more than a year, finished the big project and was just sustaining the project, so I again looked and found another job.
The job hunts were stressful. Applied for too many jobs I was well qualified for, but few responded.
Past 20 years, tons of stress, from threat of layoff each EOY, or actual job hunts. Probably took years off my life, thankfully and hopefully just the ones I'll be in diapers :)
So, that is the bitter part. The sweet part, finally retiring, walking away with a good sum in 401k, which was primarily my doing, and then the Lum Sum from my pension @945k.
It's a good sum of $$, but in many respects I feel that I've more than earned it, through all the years of stress.
Yes, I could have quit at any time, but knew there was a prize waiting for me, which I would never be able to replace it, unless I continued my employment with T

This company is a sinking ship. Every year it sinks a little more. I’m grateful I jumped ship at my own decision and rowed far away. I’m just sorry it took me 30+ years to decide to do it. I should have left 10 years ago.
I saw an individual who had worked almost 45 years at AT&T get canned at the request of a young punk who was here for about 3 years before everyone got tired of his con game and sent him packing. I knew, when they sent the guy who had been here a long time away on someone else's whim, to never expect a thing from this company. Seriously, who would the 45 year guy have thanked? Thanks guys, for throwing me out the door, because some punk didn't like me.

I'm one of those thankful people. After over 15 years at this horribly run company I can honest say I've had enough of T's bullsh-t.
I've had enough of thoroughly inept managers who can't edit a simple word document without a job aid and calling a meeting to get help. Sick and tired of the company promoting education benefits and insisting people get "upskilled" when management knows damn well it WILL NOT help in getting promotions, more merit raise, etc. It won't help at all at this dumpster fire of a company. Had it with Stank's horrible leadership and his massive ego ruining people's lives. And really, REALLY sick and damned tired of young, white, female bosses who have no clue about what they are doing or how to manage people; certainly no clue as to how to "lead" a team. Seriously the best female boss I've had at T was a middle-aged black woman who knew he sh-t up one side and down another and knew how to lead her team so that we had high productivity and everyone on the team was happy; she was well liked. What happened to her? They forced her out, got rid of her, degraded her role so much she had to leave or face the rest of her working life at T in misery.
John and Randall have turned this once good company into a 3-world shithole.
